Airblast-Abrasives B.V.
Our plastic blast media (PBM) are used for gentle cleaning, paint stripping and de-flashing. Since plastic sandblasting media are harder than the coating and softer than the substrate, coatings can be stripped without really damaging the surface. The material can be reused and is also suitable for more sensitive substrates like aluminum, composites and plastic.

Type A is made of not fully hardened Urua, Melamin and Phenol molding parts. This is a cost efficient plastic sandblasting media alternative to the PBM types as mentioned next. It has no US air force certification, but it is more favorably priced.
Type II is made of fully hardened Urea molding parts and moistened with a special anti-static agent. Type II / Urua is the most commonly used plastic abrasive media and is used for various applications. Plastic abrasive blasting media Type II is certified by the US Air force according to MIL-P-85891.
Type III is made of fully hardened Melamin molding parts and moistened with an anti-static agent. Plastic sandblasting media Type III has the highest hardness of the PBM, which makes it more aggressive with a fast cleaning rate, also on heavier coatings. It is less suitable for more sensitive substrates. PBM Type III is certified by the US Air force according to MIL-P-85891.
Type V is made of fully hardened Acrylic parts and moistened with an anti-static agent. It is the least aggressive of the PBM and therefor suitable for blasting soft/thin nonferrous metals and composite parts. Blasting is delicate, without damaging soft metals, galvanic coatings and composites. PBM Type V is certified by the US Air force according to MIL-P-85891.
